IMF will provide Iceland's credit tranche of $ 167 million

Board of Directors of the IMF plans Oct. 28 to discuss the results of the first review of anti-crisis stabilization program of credit support in Iceland. If the board approves the completion of the review, Reykjavik will have access to the credit tranche in the amount of approximately $ 167.4 million with such a press statement made today by the head of IMF mission in Iceland, Mark Flanagan.

He recalled that the completion of the review was delayed for two reasons. First, the government had delayed the adoption of certain policy measures, owing to "the political crisis in Iceland and the subsequent elections," - said the expert.

Secondly, he said, "there were problems in reaching agreements with creditors, making it difficult to attract funding for the (crisis) program by the participating countries.
