Russia, Turkey and Italy signed an agreement on the construction of the Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline


Russia, Turkey and Italy signed an agreement to build an oil pipeline Samsun-Ceyhan oil pipeline. This was reported in a published statement by the Italian oil company ENI SpA, involved in the project. On behalf of Russia signed the agreement, Vice-Premier Igor Sechin and Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko. From Turkey to sign the agreement, Energy Minister put Taner Yildyz, but from Italy - Economic Development Minister Claudio Scajola.

At the same time, the company ENI, Calik Holding, OAO Transneft and Rosneft signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which specifies the conditions for participation in the project Russian companies.

On 7 August this year Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for talks with Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said that the project pipeline Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline will significantly reduce the burden on the Turkish Straits. He recalled that participants in the project are Turkey, Russia and Italy, and expressed his gratitude to Vladimir Putin and Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who took part in the negotiations for their support of this project.

The same day, Russia and Turkey signed an intergovernmental protocol on cooperation in the oil sector. This document, in particular, provides for the establishment of a working group to examine the resource base and the transport route of the project pipeline Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline.
