China Geely ready to buy Volvo

Chinese carmaker Geely Automotive said that its holding company intends to buy Volvo Car Corp. from the American Ford.

This transaction can diversify a portfolio of assets Geely, which currently is a small local car manufacturer. But more importantly, such a move would give the Chinese company access to technology Volvo, which are needed to update its own line of cars. Nevertheless, some analysts have doubts that Geely will be able to successfully manage such an international brand like Volvo.

Parent company Geely - Geely Holding Group Co. - Ready to make an offer to buy the Swedish automaker, in alliance with the government-backed investor. Thus the Chinese side is interested in full acquisition of assets "for the production of passenger cars but not trucks. It is expected that Ford decides to sell Volvo in a month.

As we have previously reported that the purchase of Volvo claims the consortium, which is dominated by Swedish companies. In particular, the proposal of the company Konsortium Jakob AB was estimated at 15 billion kronor (2.1 billion dollars).
