Trichet believes that reforming the global financial system should be "so significant as far as possible, despite the fact that some quarterly indicators show that the situation returned to normal."
He expressed willingness to participate fully in the creation of the European Council on systemic risk - a new European structure, whose activities will focus on the identification, control and prevention of possible risks in the financial system of the entire European Union.
