Chrysler ceased cooperation with Mitsubishi and Hyundai

American automaker Chrysler Group LLC said on Thursday that comes out of an agreement on joint production of automobile engines with Mitsubishi Motors and Hyundai Motors, and is preparing to continue work in this area with the Italian Fiat Group, transmits Associated Press.

"Mitsubishi and Hyundai have sold us their shares in the company Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance (GEMA)", - said in an interview with the representative of Chrysler Max Gates (Max Gates), explaining that now produce four-cylinder engines will be on their own. Prior to termination of cooperation with Japanese and Korean companies, GEMA engines at the plant produced over the past five years.

Gates also said that the decision to cease production of engines was made by mutual agreement of the parties, and all developing proprietary Mitsubishi Motors and Hyundai, will remain with them.

According to Gates, Fiat, owner of 20% stake in Chrysler and are closely involved in its operational management, has its own advanced technology engine.

After completion of cooperation with Mitsubishi and Hyundai GEMA plant in Michigan for some time will continue to produce engines for the Dodge Caliber, Avenger, Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot and Chrysler Sebring. When the plant goes to the production of engines under license from Fiat has not yet specified.
